“ Staff beer selection are fantastic. You definitely are gonna want the pretzel roll with the mustard beer cheese delicious! I think we ended up waiting four of these as a table. The pickled veg pickled egg was delicious. The most surprising item might be the fresh baked cookies with beer pairing. The pairings were tasty. The chocolate peanut butter pairing was great but didnt need a much of the beverage because it was so sweet. Our bartender actually had us try it with another drink that wasnt sweet and had a dry profile. Id almost say blending the two beverages mightve work pretty well to balance it but overall I think its a must try. They had a lemon cookie that surprised me...because I usually dont enjoy lemon desserts. The ginger chocolate chip cookie...smack yo momma good. ”

The patio is hidden behind a narrow hall way and a couple of steps. Once outside the patio with canopy nestles in the back with warm light surrounding the area. Will come back again! ”

“ Great New Spot, but Missing the Old Favorites We lived just two blocks away from The Monks Kettle in the Mission and were regulars there, so we were sad to see it close earlier this year. Coincidentally, we moved to the East Bay just a couple of months after they closed the Mission location, so we were excited to see them reopen in Rockridge and finally made it in for dinner. The new spot has a similar cozy vibe but was packed, which is great to see. It feels like theyve found a better fit here with a more familyfriendly crowd and a great location. The back patio looks charmingwe sat at the bar this time but will definitely try it next time. As for the food, it was solid but didnt fully capture the magic of the Mission menu. I got the bricked chicken sandwich, which was flavorful and had some of the familiar tastes we loved, but I really miss the fried chicken sandwich from the old location. My girlfriend had the Monks Burger, which tasted just as good as we remembered. The fries, though, were a bit disappointing. These are denser, skinny frieslikely the same as their Terra Linda locationand dont compare to the amazing Kennebec hop salt fries they had in SF. The bartender explained their fryer situation is smaller here, which might explain the change, but we really miss those fries. Its great to see them thriving in this new home, and well definitely be back. Still holding out hope that the fried chicken sandwich and those perfect fries might make a comeback someday! ”
